What can EMDR be used for?
As well as being used in the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder EMDR has been successfully used to treat:
- Anxiety and panic attacks

- Self esteem and performance anxiety
Can anyone benefit from EMDR?
EMDR can help reduce the impact of past traumas allowing you to move on with your life. It gives the freedom to live more fully in the present. However, is not appropriate to everyone. The process is rapid involving revisiting painful experiences, the process at times lasting comparatively for a short period of time. There is the need to be aware of, be willing to experience, the powerful feelings and disturbing thoughts that may occur during the session.
The length of treatment?
EMDR can be used in brief focused treatment or incorporated in a longer therapeutic programme.
EMDR sessions can last from 50 to 90 minutes depending on previous arrangement.
Control and empowerment remains fully with the client.
During treatment you will remain in control, fully alert and wide awake not in a hypnotic state able to stop the process at any time if desired. The therapist place is to facilitate and support your own healing intervening if needed. Reprocessing happens spontaneously, new connections and insights emerging naturally from within. People tend to experience the all process with EMDR as a valuable experience.
What evidence supports EMDR as a valuable treatment?
EMDR is a clinical approved treatment that have helped over one million people. Its value and reliability established by rigorous research with various studies published.
